I spent the last week of October working on my own novel (11th draft) at the Wellstone Center in the Redwoods. It’s the perfect place to write in uninterrupted stretches before going on a hike through a redwood forest and then sitting down to an intimate […]
I took a week to work on my own novel. My favorite writing place on Earth is in Soquel, California. When I go there, I try to build in a few days to travel through Steinbeck country (East of Eden is one of my guiding novels). […]
* NOVEMBER 5 UPDATE I’ve made a permanent page to keep people up to date on the status of volunteer/edit exchange. If you’re interested, go here and bookmark it.
* SEPTEMBER 27 UPDATE – Good News / Bad News is I am amazed by the amount of wonderful people doing great things in the world. So many more responses than I initially imagined have shown up in my mailbox. I’m going to suspend adding new excerpts to the list right now until I get caught up on what I’ve already received. After that I will open up again. Keep volunteering! *
As you may have noticed, things are a little hectic in the world right now. It’s my sincere belief that in order to take the temperature down and to make things more bearable for us all, it’s good to volunteer where needed. For those of you who are doing your best to do good in your community, I’d like to extend the following offer:
I’ll read and give detailed feedback on the first 25 pages of your WIP in exchange for you volunteering a minimum of four hours. I’m not your school teacher and I don’t need a note (but please don’t abuse the system). Send me an email that includes the date and where you volunteered and I’ll take it from there. When I’ve had a chance to read your work I’ll provide notes in an email. If we need to hop on the phone to discuss, we can do that, too.
This is being offered on a first come, first served basis.
Thanks for doing what you do.
